Why Does HTTPS Matter?
Google are making changes to the way we all use the internet and one of those ways is trying to make the web more secure.
If you have a website and it is “http” and not “https” by the beginning of July 2018, it will be marked as “not secure” by anyone using Google Chrome.
This does not mean you will suddenly be ignored by Google. It does mean if a rival site is secure and you are not, they may get the visit to their site, after all, would you click on a website marked as “not secure”?
Google have also been using security of https in the way they rank sites so although you will still be found, you are more likely to be found if you have the added security.
What Does HTTPS Do?
It encrypts the data between the user and the website so that nobody can “listen in” to their conversation, change what is being said or importantly steal details from the conversation such as passwords etc.
What Can I Do To Help?
Websites built and hosted with KLB Web Design automatically get https as standard in their hosting – and at no extra cost. Some web host companies charge extra so be aware of this when taking out or renewing your hosting.
